Patel brings with him a wealth of experience, a strong cooperative vision, and deep grassroots understanding of IFFCO’s mission. A dynamic and result-oriented leader, Patel has been associated with IFFCO for around 40 years, starting as a Graduate Engineer Apprentice (GEA) in 1985, holding several senior leadership positions across various units of the organisation, according to a statement by the cooperative fertilizer major on Friday.
Of particular significance to the people of Odisha, Patel served with distinction at the IFFCO Paradeep Unit, one of IFFCO’s flagship fertilizer plants. During his tenure as Unit Head, he played a pivotal role in enhancing operational efficiency, strengthening energy management practices, and modernising plant operations. Under his leadership, the Paradeep Unit received multiple accolades in areas of sustainability, environment & energy conservation, and productivity enhancement.
His close engagement with the local community in Paradeep and commitment to inclusive growth earned him admiration from employees and stakeholders alike. Patel is known for his visionary leadership and people-first approach—hallmarks that align with IFFCO’s cooperative ethos.
Upon assuming charge as MD, Patel expressed his gratitude to the IFFCO Board and member cooperatives for their trust and support. He also expressed deep gratitude to Awasthi for his path-breaking leadership that positioned IFFCO as a global model in the cooperative and fertilizer sectors.
“It is a privilege and a profound responsibility to follow in the footsteps of Dr Awasthi. IFFCO has always stood for the prosperity of the Nation & Indian farmers, and I am committed to carrying that legacy forward with innovation, sustainability, and cooperative strength,” said Patel.
With Patel at the helm, IFFCO embarks on a new journey honouring its legacy while embracing a renewed vision rooted in experience and continuity. The entire IFFCO family looks forward to his stewardship in further advancing the organisation’s mission of serving the farming community and strengthening India’s agricultural backbone, the statement concluded.
